Mini Book Haul on a Saturday

It was Goodwill Half Price Saturday and I got some good ones.

Two hardback Charles Dickens novels, Oliver Twist and David Copperfield, a Nonfiction history by John Gribbin of the last 500yrs of science thru the eyes and stories of The Scientists who’s discoveries have given shape to our modern world, and a tag-team novel by James Patterson and former President of the United States Bill Clinton, The President’s Plane is Missing.

I’m just started my next book in the Irish Country Villiage series by Patrick Taylor, An Irish Country Courtship, in advance of March’s Wales Read along, but I plan on reading at least the Patterson/Clinton novel before June. As for Dickens, they go on the classics shelf we have set apart in the reading nook in the back room. My hope is to start reading classics on a regular, in between others thru the year.

What are you reading? Why not drop a comment in the bucket down below. -mike

Real Men Refuse to be Bullied by “Male Stereotyping” Anti-bullying Campaigns

Stop giving them what they want. Stop paying for your own enslavement. There are better, older and more traditional ways of shaving. Try DE Safety Razor or a Straight Razor with a Bowl and Brush. Much better, “Greener” and less expensive shave option than those plastic throw away multiblade cartridges.

The Best a Man Can Get is better than what they’re selling you.

February Black History Month: “I, too”

I, Too

Langston Hughes, 1902 1967

I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.

Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed—

I, too, am America.

A reminder…

… that We are Stronger and Better together than driven apart. America is diverse and broad. America defies all restrictions and lables that those in political power, and those who want political power, use to divide and put us against each other.

We all are America. Let’s celebrate our Oneness in our Differences.
